At the start of the week, Cao Gong Cang presented the new Easy-Bike website. Easy-Bike are a team of dedicated trials fanatics based in Peking who sell Koxx, Yaabaa & Monty products in China and who develop their own brands; Fans & Speed Race. Fans, launched this year, is to Easy-Bike what Yaabaa is to K-124, the ‘low-cost’ brand that offers the highest quality bikes for the lowest prices. And Speed Race is a bit like Easy-Bike’s Koxx… the first brand developed by the group in 2003, the following years were punctuated by a whole series of frames that enjoyed great success in Asia such as the Satan and the Ascent. Speed Race have been on stand-by for three years, preparing for their return with new products tailored to meet the demands of modern riders.
The new Speed Race 2010 range has now been unveiled on their website.
The new frame is the “Solo”, available in 20” & 26”, and has everything that even the most dedicated and experienced competitors could want: a classy design, an up-to-date geometry (26” - 1090mm wheelbase and +50 BB; 20” – 1020mm wheelbase and +60 BB), a very reasonable weight (1687g), and a lovely-looking paint job borrowed from the Ozonys XR26, with the UCI colours on the rear end, which only goes to show that this is a real competition bike.
The characteristics of this frame, which are detailed on the website, are very impressive: the frame is constructed from 7005-T6 Aluminium and has a number of CNC pieces; the one-piece yoke and headtube have both been 3D CNC machined using a high presicion machine! It’s a bike that has been designed for competition right down to the smallest detail. See the photos below, more information is available on the Speed Race website!

And here are the new 2010 Speed Race disc forks… Equally classy, made from 7075-T6 Aluminium, they are extremely light; the published weight is just 700g for the 26” versions and 667g for the 20” version!

Cao Gong Cang tells us that more components will soon be added to the Speed Race range, including a hub (in 7075-T6 aluminium and 3K carbon!) and rims… We’ll keep you posted!
