Chinese brand Speed Race made their comeback in 2009 after three years of absence. Since then, they have made some excellent steps, and the Easy-Bike group, who are based in Peking and manufacture the Speed Race, Easy-Bike and Fans frames and parts, are one of our partners. At the start of the year, we presented their new 2011 range, headed up by the completely redesigned Solo, with an up-to-date geometry (+70 BB, etc.), a new aluminium alloy, a head tube that has been machined away almost in its entirety, both at the sides and the front, a cut-away BB shell, hydro-formed tubes, twin seat tubes and numerous CNC parts. In short, it’s a model that has kept up with the trends, corrected the faults and been improved upon, like the rest of the Speed Race range.
Cai Gong Cang, head of the Easy-Bike group, tells us a bit more:
After a long phase of preparation and production, the new Speed Race frames are available to buy.
Ay Easy-Bike we don’t just produce frames with distinctive designs, but that have also been designed and tested very thoroughly to ensure the highest performance, safety and reliability.
As you may know, we have a lot of experience in this field, made stronger by our new factory. It may not be a long history (8 years), but it is a complex one and we are capable of producing the best performing products out there.
For each SOLO SR frame, form the choice of materials through to the final product, there is an extreme attention to detail at every stage of production. Here we present our new 2011 range, which we hope you will like! We are at your service!
Here it is then, the new Speed Race 2011 catalogue, which you can also download as an ebook from their website.
To begin with, here are some pictures and specifications of the new 2011 Solo 26” and 20” frames.
Next up are the brand’s new 24" model, which takes the front end of the Fans and the rear end of the Solo, and the Speed Race Carbon, designed and tested by talented UK rider Ben Travis, which we showed you back in March (The Speed Race Carbon).
The curious “Roar”, which we discovered in 2008 at the BIU World Championships in Itadori, is back, with its extreme design, with tube upon tube welded together in triangular formations. The fruit of a long period of research and development, this frame will never make it onto the market; It is a concept bike only. And here it is!
To finish up, here are the 2011 Speed Race components, including the Top Gun range or parts designed to meet the needs of even the most demanding competitor, with low weights andgreat looks: Forks that have been machined from a single piece of U6 aluminium, carbon hubs and bars, forged stems and a 108 click freewheel with 9 pawls.
