The Koxx Black Sky, the new ‘extreme’ geo top-of-the-range bike that has been developed and tested by European Vice-Champion Vincent Hermance throughout the 2009 season, has been available for a few days now. The Koxx rider sent us some photos of his production bike (Le Black Sky de Supermance) on Friday and told us, via his blog that “with the two Stiky Light tyres, the bike weighs 8.1kg with the training build, without Ti pedal axles and bolts and machined parts…”
He rode his first competition on his new Sky this Sunday, taking part in the CIRO VTT-Trial 2009 final: he won the Elite competition with just 24 points, ahead of Kevin Aglaé (55) and Elie Boucher (56). He sent us the photos below, the first photos of him in action on the production Black Sky!
While we’re at it, here’s a question from Julien, alias Djoul’, who wanted to know why the frame was now anodised black (and not gloss black, like the frame unveiled at K-124 Days 2009), while the fork was still glossy? Max (K-124 House) tells us why: “Anodisation is much lighter than paint. The forks had been ordered before the frames and before we made the decision and it was too late to change them.” Vincent Hermance doesn’t mind the difference: “I think that the matt looks really classy, but can look a bit naff if there’s too much. I think the bike looks pretty good with matt frame, cranks and stem and glossy fork, rims and hubs!”
