JPEG - 25.6 kb UK Elite rider Scott Wilson is a well known face on the competition circuit, competing regularly in 26” BIU and UCI events. He recently finished in 6th place in Elite class in the second round of the European Cup in Saïx, France. Scott has recently picked up a new sponsorship from Inpulse Bikes, for whom he will be riding in all of the 2011 BIU events. As if that wasn’t enough, he’s just set up his own online store as well! 54 Sport are the official UK stockists for Inpulse Bikes, and will be selling products from other trials and extreme sports companies to boot.

We caught up with Scott to see what it was all about:

After 3 and a half years with Onza bikes, our time together has come to an end. I’d like to say a huge thank you to the whole Onza bikes crew, it’s been amazing riding for them, loved every minute of it. Always great doing work with them. Extra big shout out to Joe Poyzer - Hero! So now, I am proud to announce that I will be riding for Inpulse Bikes! I’ve known Aurélien and Cédric for a few years through the UCI scene and had been keeping an eye on the Inpulse brand since it came about in 2009. I’ve always liked the look of it and knew that if the Fontenoy brothers were designing and developing it, it was going to be good. Over the winter I started to get the itch for a new bike and I also needed something to shake up my riding and re-motivate me for the coming year. I remembered the Inpulse, saw the 2011 version had a quick chat to Cédric and that was it sorted! I’ve had a few days trying the bike now and am very impressed by it. The weight is very noticeable (around 8.5kg as standard) and it’s very fast to react, side hops, wheel swaps, etc. happen so fast and easily now! Its got a lot of control when on the rear wheel too which makes it a pleasure to ride!

JPEG - 141.8 kb This year I’ve mainly committed to the BIU comps – I’m riding in the Euro Cups, European Championship and World Championship. With the UCI series being much longer this year and the venues and trips usually being more expensive, I knew I couldn’t afford to do the full UCI world cup series, I didn’t want to just do bits here and there of UCI and BIU, so decided to do all of the BIU dates and hopefully get a good ranking at the end of the year. If I can I will definitely try to get to some World Cups though, they are pretty special!

54Sport was another product of winter boredom and over thinking (it’s dangerous for me!). I’d been looking into starting a trials or clothing shop for a little while and when I was speaking to Cédric he mentioned that he was looking for a UK importer. I couldn’t see a reason why I shouldn’t try it and I just went for it! I was already talking to one of my great sponsors,, about stocking some of their products so it seemed like a logical step to take. 54 Sport are the Official UK importer for Inpulse bikes. We currently have the R26, R20 full build bikes in (very nice!), as well as the R26 frames, and will soon be getting supplies of various Inpulse parts. I also stock green-oil and Phatworks products. We don’t have any team riders at the moment, but will be looking very soon..........

Some photos of Scott’s new bike, the fantastic 2011 Inpulse R26. Scott is riding the standard build, which comes with carbon bars and hubs. Not bad for £1,699! There are also a few photos of Scott in action on his new bike, at a recent demo and at Toad Rocks…
