This weekend marked the opening of the 2010 Subaru French Trials Cup, of which the first round was organised by the dynamic Cerny Trials Club on their own trials area, which had been remodelled for the occasion. Tribal Zine were on hand to bring you the results and media as they happened – and along with Trial Magazine, were the official event sponsors! The sections were composed mainly of imported rocks and were very technical indeed! A huge thanks and a pat on the back for the Cerny staff, who put on a great trial – worthy of a World Cup!
The categories that ran on Sunday were National in the morning and Expert and Elite in the afternoon. The winners in each category were: Benjamin Durville in National, Valentin Gaucher in Expert and Gilles Coustellier in Elite. The current World Champion Gilles Coustellier (Koxx) just missed out on the perfect trial, dropping just one point on his second lap. Behind him, his brother Giacomo (Atomz), who had an excellent start to the season, set himself apart from Kenny Belaey (Monty) and Vincent Hermance (Koxx) right from the start – the French Cup is open to foreign riders and many Belgian riders use it as top-level training. In the end it was Vincent who took third place after dropping just one point per lap on his final two laps. Kenny finished in fourth with 18 points on his card. The remaining elite riders were q fair way behind the top four: Aurélien Fontenoy (46) et Guillaume Dunand (50), suivis de près par Morgan Rémy (52), Nicolas Vuillermot (53) and Kevin Aglaé (54). Full results below, as well as a first series of images form the Elite competiton. More info and images to come!
