Mongoose rider Chris Akrigg is one of the best-known figures in UK trials. His talent and imagination renewed the street scene and opened our sport up to new perspectives and influences with his series of astonishing videos and he was one of the first people to take the brakes off his bike and is perhaps the founder of the brakeless movement. One of his latest videos saw him riding ’enduro trials’ in Malaga, mixing downhill and trials in the magnificent ’A Hill in Spain’.
But despite his street and freeride credentials, Chris started out as pure trials rider, competing in his home county of Yorkshire and picking up six British national titles. He recently decided to return to his roots and picked up his trials bike and camera to make a new video. The result is a fantastic blend of old school trials, street tricks performed on rocks and in the woods, with a bit of moto trials (which he rides with the same laid back style) thrown in for good measure. He was obviously having a good time, and we were, watching him, until the end of the video, which sees Chris take, in his own words, ’a bit of a hit’ (a massive fall from a cliff face!) that saw him being taken to hospital by the air ambulance crew. Get well soon Chris!
