The Biketrial Federation have released their provisional dates coming season’s national competitions in the UK. It looks like it will be a busy season, with events pretty much all year round up and down the country at excellent and varied venues.
The British Trials Cup
The 2011 British Trials Cup will feature, as usual, five rounds spread throughout the year. As is tradition, the series will close in October at Shipley Glen, having taken in the South of England and the northern reaches of Scotland on the way. The series should be an exciting one, with some interesting changes meaning that last year’s hierarchy could well be turned on its head. With Jack Carthy (Tribal Zine/Koxx) now riding 26”, there will be a big gap to fill in Elite 20” and the 26” Elite riders will be looking nervously over their shoulders!
2011 will hopefully see more of the UK’s international competitors taking part in their national series once more; how will the likes of Savage, Slinger and Butler fare against young guns and British stalwarts such as Carthy, Kerr and Hyland? Long standing event sponsors Onza will still be supporting the series, as will PhatWorks, supplying prizes and support.
There are some other especially interesting dates to look out for in 2011. For example, round three of the British Trials Cup will be run alongside the much anticipated RADFEST at Barrow Farm in Essex – three days of trials action with hundreds of riders and spectators, speed trials, fun comps, trade stands and a national competition; this is a weekend not to be missed (article coming soon)!
The Biketrial Federation will be sending out regular newsletters, with information on events, competitons and clubs, throughout the 2011 season. If you would like to be added to the mailing list, contact Ben Swales at [email protected].
What more excuse do you need to get involved and start competing in your national series?
