Singapore brand Rockman, distributed in France by our partner Trialprod, are now well established on the trials market, after just two years! At the start of their life, Rockman only had their famous Rockpads in their catalogue, but their progress has been very impressive: Rockman now produce a large range of bikes (in their own factory in Singapore) and components which are among the best on the market.
Last month we presented Rockman’s 2010 20” range, the Manus & the Aurem III, now built from U6 Aluminium so that they are now even lighter, and still with the artistic paintjobs. Top British rider Ben Savage signed up with Rockman a few days ago (see Ben Savage signs with Rockman!), and broke the news on the UK’s Trials-Forum that he was going to “help them with the design and testing of a number of products, including a new 26” frame” and that he hoped to “receive the prototype in the next seven to ten days”. Well he received it on Friday and it turns out that it is the new Slate 2.
Here’s what he had to say about it… “It looks beautiful and it feels crazy light too! I have spent the last two days riding at the Castle Skills indoor trials park and I love it. Its by far the stiffest frame I have ever ridden. The bb is a little higher than I’m used to which made it feel a little strange at first, but after an hour I was feeling comfortable on it. I have already done 2 lines / moves that I could not do on my Limey3! I think this frame is really going to help my riding progress.” Nicolas Ollier, the owner of Trialprod, gave us some more details on the paintjob of this bike, which will soon be added to his already impressive catalogue… “Ben’s frame is silver, but this is a one-off just for him. The frames will be available in orange and in light green, anodised of course.”
