While we were at the second round of the Tyke Trial club championship at Addingham Moorside on Sunday, we took the chance to catch up with Rockman rider Ben Savage, who was there practicing on his new 24” Rockman Traktor.
The bike looks great, with pretty understated graphics in comparison to the rest of the Rockman range, and a lot of neat features. Ben told us a bit about his new ride before letting us get a few pictures (see below).
The bike is a great compromise; I love how flicky and manoeuvrable it is compared to my 26”. The 24” wheels are still good for rolling etc too. I find 20” a bit too hoppy but the Traktor still lets you roll over rocks etc. really well. I’m going to get a good few hours in on it this week and then put it through its paces at the first round of the British National Trials Cup.
With the Kabra F-24, the Because Trial and now the Rockman Traktor, it seems that trials manufacturers are really taking an interest in the comp/TGS 24” market, we should see more and more 24" bikes in the sections, will we be seeing one on a World podium soon?
