On Sunday the 15th of June the Queensland Bike Trials Club (QBTC) hosted Round 3 of the 2014 Australian Trials Series on Queensland’s Gold Coast. For the past few seasons the QBTC have hosted their National Rounds on natural terrain but for 2014 the club teamed up with Gold Coast City Council to run their first ever Street Trial event.
Taking over Swan Lane in the heart of the Gold Coast’s historic Mudgeeraba Village the club constructed a variety of man made sections to challenge the local and interstate riders. From cable reels to locally sourced logs the club aimed to challenge the riders and entertain the spectators.
In the Elite field Nathan Mummery (Cross King/ Echo) of Victoria completed one of the most dominating performances of the Australian season when he cleaned all sections for a perfect final score card. Nathan displayed great power and control on the bike that placed him in a class above the rest. Nathan will be following up his National Series success with a tour of North Queensland doing demos as part of the Eljay Show. Joining Nathan on the podium was Joel Nelson (2nd) and Jack Mullaly (3rd) who both rode well but couldn’t come close to Nathan on the day.

Janine Jungfels (Trialtech/ Echo) continued her success on 24” wheels taking the win in the Expert field on 27 dabs. Mitch Ho from Sydney took 2nd place while Le Hua from TNN Engineering made a successful return to competition trials with a 3rd place finish.
Anthony Graham of Rockhampton took first place in Sport class. Young Ben Atkinson of Toowoomba finished 1st in the Introductory class.
