A few days ago, we informed you that one of Spain’s top elite riders, Juan Daniel De la Peña, who has been in the UCI top ten for a number of years (Third in the 2005 UCI World Championship), and who has been seen at numerous competitions this season (17th in the Ripoll World Cup round), is developing a new trials brand, “Kabra”. The first model will be a 24” aimed at ‘pure’ trials, not street riding. It has a very trials-specific geometry, taking the best from both 20” and 26” designs: high BB, 1060mm wheelbase, total weight of 8.7kg. An early photo of the bike was put online on the Trialsport website.
Top Colombian rider Patricio Escobar has sent us these new pictures of the bike, designed to combine all of the advantages of 20” and 26”. We imagine that bunnyhops will be easy and that the smaller wheel should allow for the use of a rear disc and maybe make the handling a bit easier than that of a 26” on technical rocky sections. And as for sidehops, taps, gaps and hooks… we’ll see!
