Trials is something of a marginal sport among the North American people, but they have nevertheless given us one of its most talented riders, capable of competing with the world’s best. Thanks to his determination, passion and enthusiasm, Canada’s John Webster has reached a level of skill and fitness that put him above the majority of riders on the international circuit, and he has caused a stir at every event that he has entered. In Mont Sainte-Anne in 2010 he was a surprise finalist, finishing in eighth place, and he has been in the final in every World Championship since, finishing fourth in Champéry (4ème) in 2011 and sixth in Saafelden this year. The Rockman rider has also competed in the World Cup this year, qualifying for two finals in four events, with his best result coming in Aalter, where he finished fifth. He also had good results in the new Trial Pro Series, finishing fourth in Aix-les-Bains. It has been an enriching experience for John, upon which he is determined to capitalise in order to come back even stronger in 2013… "I am happy with my results and now I know what I need to work on for next season. This year was a HUGE learning experience for me. I learned more this season than all my years in trials combined I think! Thank you to ALL my friends, fellow competitors and most of all my family for making this year possible. It would not have been possible without the massive amount of support! Now it is time to fly home, relax and recover then start preparing for next year!"

PNG - 342.3 kb That preparation has already started, and John has been riding street, rocks and at his home training ground that features huge UCI-style obstacles and of which we are all incredibly ealous. Another Canadian of whom we are big fans here at Tribal Zine is Kevin Liu, and he has just released a video of these recent training sessions. He told us a bit about the shooting of the video: "The video was filmed around John’s local area on Vancouver Island. I arrived there on Thursday afternoon and we spent a few hours making some custom alu braces for our carbon forks. Then we had to go out because John had an interviewwith a local news channel. John’s going to spend the winter building some new obstacles in his back yard to simulate UCI sections”. Kevin invites you to support John by making a donation on Vimeo using the new « Tip Jar » function, with all money going towards getting him back to Europe next year!
