The French street trials scene is young, but it’s growing fast. In a country where for a long time 26" competition trials was pretty much all anyone cared about, street riding has struggled to take off. Riders like the Triboulat brothers and Léo Nobile are flying the flag in their own way, learning all the tricks in the street trials arsenal and bringing out videos showing them off. There are also some lesser-known riders starting to come through. Inspired by Danny MacAskill to pick up a 24" bike and emulate the undisputed king of the discipline.
Tribal Zine met up with a couple of these riders, Mickaël Dupont and Nicolas Moreau, a few days ago. Despite living and riding just a few miles from each other, they only met recently at a show in which they both took part (Mickaël Dupont VS Nicolas Moreau). They hit it off pretty much straight away and were pushing each other’s riding throughout the show. We were so impressed with their skills and their complementary styles that we asked them to join our team of testers for a 24" street test that will be hitting the site very soon! They were just the sort of riders we were looking for - talented and friendly riders with a lot to say!
The test will be published on the site very soon, but first, and introduction to the two new members of our test team. Thanks to Antoine Prouteau (photos 1-4 & 7) and Thomas Moreau (photos 5 & 6) for the photos
Mickaël Dupont is the man behind the viral video ’Vintage Ladies Bike Freestyle’ which featured some very impressive riding, including a backflip, on an old lady’s bike and has been watched almost 1.5 million times on Youtube (see our article to watch the video). He now rides an Inspired Fourplay and has progressed a lot since that video. He’s even learned to frontflip!
Nicolas Moreau first came to our attention when he entered an impressive video) into the GETcreative video competition organised by Ben Rowlands last year. He seemed very at ease with street riding, despite not having been riding for long, and we really liked his video. He’s since become the ambassador for Russian 24" street brand Omen.
Mickaël Dupont sending a front flip at his home spot. We were blown away!
Nicolas Moreau with a tailwhip at Mickaël’s spot. Pretty impressive as well...
A meeting of two worlds; 26" comp trials and 24" street. This is going to be an interesting test...
