The Crowthorne club staged a competition at Brackendene, Addlestonemoor on Saturday the 18th September. The trial took place on a dry sunny day with sections catering for adult and youth riders of all abilities. Riders had to ride three laps of six technically demanding sections, which were made up of a combination of tree stumps, big logs, concrete slabs, cambers and even a tunnel thrown in for good measure! Graham Tickner sent us a round-up of the event.
Expert
Expert was a closely fought competition and was still all to play for on the final lap. Tom Rankin was riding well, cleaning sections left right and centre with his powerful explosive style. He was tied at the top with BIU British Senior Champion Jack Meek for much of the trial, with both riders working their way through the sections with apparent ease, finishing their second lap without dropping a single point! Lap three would be crucial in deciding the winner. Tom seemed to lose concentration on his third lap, dropping an unexpected five and dropping down to third place. Would Jack and Jaime manage to keep their feet up and remain in first and second? Jack remained clean until the very last section of the day when he took a five on the bridge putting him on equal points with Tom. The two were separated on most cleans, with Jack taking second place and Tom remaining in third. Jaime Pedrosa managed to keep his feet up and finished on just one point to take the win.
