Here’s a photo review of the third and final round of the 2010 Spanish Championship, which took place a few weeks ago on the magnificent natural sections of Cabrera de Mar, near Barcelona.
We’ll remind you quickly of the results…the Elite victory went once again to European and World Champion Benito Ros (Koxx), who took the national title that had been denied him last year by his biggest rival Dani Comas. Dani himself performed excellently and was actually in the lead on the first two laps, but the Monty rider seemd to crumble in the last two sections, where he picked up two fives, relegating him to second place. World Vice-Champion Abel Mustieles (Koxx) took third place in the competition with a small lead over Junior double World Champion Ion Areitio (Koxx). The podium of the final was the same as the overall Championship podium. The winners in the other classes were: Joan Figueras in Elite B, Raul Martinez in Senior, Rafael Tibau in Junior, Bernat Seuba in Cadet, Sergio Garcia in Minime, Sebastian Ruiz in Benjamin and Marti Aran in Poussin.
Here are some fantastic photos of the top four Spanish riders, sent to us by Catalan photographer Mireia Martin, an amateur with some pretty pro skills. The photos recreate perfectly the intensity and difficulty of the Elite competition.
