Onza bikes are undeniably one of the most dynamic and popular trials brands in the UK; their bikes can be seen at every competition and on every group ride that you go on. And with riders such as Jack Carthy, Andrei Burton, Joe Seddon and Craig Lee Scott on their team it’s little wonder!
Having previously focused on competition or ‘pure’ trials, Onza recently redesigned their 24” offering, the Zoot, to bring it more inline with the streetier side of trials. With the classic twin triangle frame, built in pivotal seat, Holy Roller tyres and snazzy graphics, they’ve certainly managed to create a stylish and streety looking bike! The Zoot is available as a full bike, with a mixture of Onza and Tensile parts, for just £529.00, which considering the quality of build and components that you get, is an absolute bargain!
While we were at the fifth round of the British National Trials Cup we spotted an interesting new frame on the Onza stand: the Zoot Pro Frame Kit. This is an upgraded version of the 24” Zoot with some improved features and a brand new paint job. Featuring dedicated four bolt Magura mounts in place of the standard Zoot’s v-brake bosses (as well as a disc mount), Onza’s integrated tensioner offset dropouts, an integrated pivotal seat post and purple seat, a sealed headset and Onza’s new 24” Zoot Pro fork, this is certainly a great package for all of the budding street trials riders out there!
The frame itself is a lovely looking bit of kit with its pearl white powder coat finish and eye-catching purple graphics. The gussets are neat and well placed and we’re all familiar with Onza’s own integrated tensioner dropouts by now. The interated pivotal seatpost is a nice feature, helping to keep the weight down and keeping up with current trends in the street market. The only downside is the lack of height adjustment, meaning that you won’t be able to slam that seat, although that won’t be a problem for most riders.
The new fork looks pretty robust, reminiscent of the popular Inspired Fourplay 24” fork. The dropouts are stylish and well-designed, with cut outs to save weight without compromising strength. The large diameter of the fork legs and thick steerer tube mean that the forks are strong enough to handle plenty of abuse while still being among the lightest on the market (954g). The steerer tube is also threaded and takes a threaded top cap, eliminating the need for a star nut.
The Zoot Pro 24" Frame Kit is available to buy now, and at just £349 for the frame, fork, headset and seat, it’s another bargain!
