2009 is the "year of revolution" for Ozonys, with a new, innovative and competition orientated range that is nearing completion. The design of the frames has been rethought in order to reduce weight without compromising the reliability that made the brand so successful. The headtubes have been internally lightened, as has the bottom bracket. All tube thicknesses have been recalculated and all of the frames now feature an integrated CNC booster. The 26" models have an extra bonus - adjustable geometries and a chain tensioner fitted to the chain stay allows for optimum chain tension and protection.
Bruno Arnold showed us the new Cannibal 2009 in December, then more recently the Curve 2009, two bikes that had been successfully tested by top rider Guillaume Dunand (ranked 4th by the UCI, Koxx Days favourite and current TriAl’p Cup leader) and which seduced us immediately with their classy and original looks.
Here’s a complete presentation of the new Curve 20, which will replace the XR 20 and which has been available to look at on the new Ozonys website. Its 6061 Aluminium frame has the same design as the 26" model, featuring the same CNC pieces, lightened head tube and bottom bracket and recalculated tube thicknesses for a maximised weight/strength ratio, etc.
The tubes have the same inward curve, from which the frame takes its name. The decoration is nice and classy, this time mixing red, black and grey on a white background. The published weight if this frame is 1.65kg. The fork that will come with the full bike is, like the 26" model, a new curved fork, the published weight of which is 720g (alu streerer, 160mm disc/HS33 versions, starnut, 40mm offset).
3D images if the final design of the Curve 20...
The first photo of the actual frame. This prototype Curve 20 is very close to the final version, although the 26" model will undergo some changes.
Geometry of the prototype:
