International biketrials competition is unique in that it has two different circuits, administrated by two un-related federations who apply their own, subtly different, rules: The BIU circuit, where it all began, was the first federation to make trials a true competiton sport, and the UCI circuit, which has developed considerably over the last few years and which is now the official circuit. The BIU circuit is no less active however, with the support of Spanish brand Monty.
This season showed an uncontestable dynamism. The World Championship, despite playing itself out over just one round, was exceptionally intense. Everyone who went to Tang Ping to defend their flag will tell you; they’ve never seen anything like it! Imagine an enormous marketing campaign, with billboards over the motorways all around the area, 15,000 spectators at a competition in the middle of nowhere, wooden bridges between sections, exceptional organisation and an extravagant closing ceremony. The European Bike Trial circuit, with a championship in Catalonia, and a three-round Cup that took place in the Czech Republic, Italy and the UK, has shown itself to be a force to be reckoned with.
The 2010 BIU calendar has been finalised in november and Eurobiketrial.com have sent us the details: The World Championships will take place in Europe and the European circuit will pass through Italy, the Czech Republic and Germany. The European BikeTrial Championship 2010 planned in Andorra is canceled due to lack of means. Good news is that all agreements for organizing of the European Cup 2010 (Italy, Czech
Republic and Germany) are finalized. Here is the complete and updated BIU-BEU 2010 calendar...
