The Union Européenne de Cyclisme (UEC) and the MSC Melsungen / Bikes In Motion organised the 2010 European Championship in Germany last weekend, at the German club’s magnificent wooded trials park. With MSC Melsungen’s 25 years of experience, it was sure to be a brilliant competition! The club is used to organising large events such as this; they organised the European Championship and the World Youth Games in 2006 and the 2007 World Cup Final.

JPEG - 113 kb This year they did a great job too! Almost 150 tonnes of rocks were brought in to test some of the best riders on the planet. There were also loads of tree trunks arranged lengthways, on end and leaning on each other in order to push the balance of these athletes to the limit! The sections were up to the current UCI standards for this European Championship and were sure to offer a great spectacle! Joachim Will has sent us the full results from the competitions, which were extremely intense and in which the two great trials nations, France and Spain, shone brilliantly! Swiss rider Karin Moor was also back on form following her recent motorbike accident…

Elite 26":

The Elite competition took place between 15:30 and 17:15. The French, European and World Champion Gilles Coustellier (Koxx) retained his jersey after a long and hard battle with Belgian Kenny Belaey (Monty), who was in the leas after the first lap. This is his third consecutive European Championship! Bravo Gilles ! Vincent Hermance (Koxx) took third.
