The technical (and physical) ability of the international Elite riders has progressed considerably over the last few years, with a handful of them streaks ahead of the rest and dominating the podiums without fail. No-one seems able to challenge the supremacy of Gilles Coustellier, Kenny Belaey, Vincent Hermance or Benito Ros and Dani Comas. But there are some juniors coming up through the ranks who have the intention of rocking the boat. Among them is 17 year old Spaniard Rafael Tibau Raura – unusual among Spaniards because he rides not on a 20”, as seems to be the norm over there, but on a 26” Monty Kamel 231. People began to talk about this young rider after his national and international performances this season. In June he took the title of Junior Vice-Spanish Champion, in July he took silver in the European Championshipin Zoertemeer and in September he came back from the Canberra World Championship with a bronze medal.
Here are the first video clips of this young champion that we have no doubt you will all be talking about in years to come on the international Elite scene. The video has been put together by Aaron Levy from Barcelona, who has sent us other great videos such as Ripoll by Aaron Levy. It is a short but explosive video full of impressive moves. The young Spaniard goes big with a very powerful, controlled style.
