Patrick Donovan is a 23 year old British rider from Grantham who has been riding trials for six years. He got straight into competition riding, with success on both the BIU and UCI national and international circuits, winning the title of YMSA Elite British Champion in 2007. Since 2008, Patrick has been mainly riding demos and signed a contract with Team MAD. He puts on shows all over britain (including at the Cycle Show 2008) and abroad. He still manages to compete however, and is supported by Heatsink and Tarty Bikes. He finished the 2008 season in third place in the British Championship. 2009 was also a good year for him and he told us a little about it...
The 2009 season for me was really busy and really successful. I was managed to win the Spanish Senior Biketrial championship, I was 5th in round 1 of the European cup and I also won in the masters category in the Bayern UCI cup so for me it was great. I managed to fit in several shows and next week I will return to the UK to do 6 shows in 5 days with the MAD team in schools around the London area.
I was also present at many competitions throughout europe including Dressler Camp in Czech Republic and the East German championships and European cup in Italy.
I hope to be in France more next season ;)
