Tribal Zine joined forces with Digital Direct Multimédia to offer you the best photos of the 2010 Trials World Championships. The photos have been taken by Michel Roy, one of the best photographers in Quebec. Michel is a member of the Corporation des Maîtres Photographes du Québec, of NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionnals) and has a regular column in the prestigious Canadian magazine PhotoNews and will have a photo on the cover of the next issue. He has also recently distinguished himself in photography circles in Quebec by winning some prestigious prizes (the wildlife category Grand Prix and the Jamboree snowboard photo contest).
After galleries dedicated to World Champion Kenny Belaey, Benito Ros, Marc Caisso, Abel Mustieles, and ex-World Champion Gilles Coustellier, here is our last lot of photos from Mont Sainte-Anne. This time the focus is on Rockman riders Ben Savage and John Webster! Not long ago you never used to see Rockman bikes in international or even national competitions, even though their products, bikes as well as components, are designed to be used at the highest level. This has certainly changed this year and the brand is more and more present in paddocks around the world. This year’s World Championship saw things go even further, with two of the eight Elite finalists riding the brand new Kortz II! British Champion Ben Savage finished in sixth place, ahead of Canadian John Webster, who was the rider that most surprised us all in the competition! He managed to qualify alongside the world’s greatest riders in what was his first UCI competition of the season! He’s not entirely unknown however, last year we saw him at work in China in the BIU World Champiosnhip, where he took the title of BIU Senior Vice-World Champion. Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail told us of his qualifications… “He hasn’t got a coach. His mother helped him to register for the event. He had his Canada team shirt made himself at a local T-shirt shop. The Association Cycliste Canadienne has offered him no support, even though he is one of the best riders in North America and finished first at Crankworx in Whistler, B.C., this summer, one of the most important mountain biking events in the world.”. All the more deserving of his title then – Bravo John! Click on a photo to view in full screen or as a slide show.
