Here’s a video of a top Canadian rider, who many of us will not have heard of before now. It was made by Kevin Liu, who we’re more used to seeing on the screen. The star this time is John Webster, a 22 year old comp rider from Millbay, a Vancouver island, who competes in both BIU and UCI.
John is one of the best comp riders in Canada, and had a remarkable 2009 season. This year he took the title of Senior Vice-World Champion in Tang Ping, ahead of Maxime Kolb and Thomas Francisco. His clean and effective riding is really impressive, especially as we’d never heard of him before we saw this video! He was also part of the Canadian selection for the Canberra UCI World Championship and finished in 18th position, just ahead of a certain Loris Braun!
This is the first footage that we’ve seen of this young lad, and it shows him to be a very accomplished and relaxed rider with some impressive skills. He takes on big obstacles in the centre of Vancouver with surprising ease. Enjoy!
