Once again, the Biketrial Federation was in Fort William this year, braving the weather and the midges to organise a trials competition alongside the UCI Downhill and 4X World Cup. Things were slightly different this year, however, with a new, more dynamic team of organisers and two rounds of the British Trials Cup rather than one round of the Cup and a one-off British Championship, and it was one of the most successful visits to the Northern reaches of Scotland yet! With glorious sunshine on Saturday and pouring rain on Sunday, the two rounds couldn’t have been more different, and there was a huge change in scores from one day to the next.
Elite
Jack Carthy (Tribal Zine/Enter Bike) won the UCI World Elite competition on both days, cleaning the whole trial in Round 3 and dropping just 22 points in Round 4. France’s Guillaume Dunand (Ozonys) finished second in Round 3, with Dave Kerr in third, and Dave Kerr (Tribal Zine/Cycle Mart) finished second in Round 4. In Elite 26” Stan Shaw (Tarty Bikes) took the win in Round 3 ahead of Alec Wray (3SIXTY’s)and Wayne Mahomet, while in round 4 Alec finished in first place ahead of Stan and Tom Rigg. Dave Kerr won both rounds in Elite 20”, with Dan Wheeler (Radical Bikes) and Oliver Battye in second and third in Round 3 and swapping places in Round 4.
