The 2012 Australian Trials Championships took place on Saturday 25th February at the Eagle Mountain Bike Park in Adelaide, under scorching sunshine and suffocating temperatures of almost 40°. There was even an international presence with Spaniard Gemma Abant (UCI Vice-World Champion) and France’s Wilfrid Delolme (Expert competitor and organiser of the Puy-en-Velay Open International) in attendance Tim Mullaly, the boss at Expressive Bikes, sent us the results as they happened. Andrew Dickey was once again crowned Australian Champion in the Pro 26” category, beating his rival Joe Brewer by one point, while third place went to Nathan Mummery. Nathan also took the win in Pro 20”, ahead of Jack Mullaly and Andrew Dickey. In Elite, the title went to Borys Zagrocki once again after he conceded just one point, beating Gemma Abant Condal and Owen Gwilliam. Mitch Ho finished fourth on time. The Sport and Novice titles went to Kyle Rolands and Jeffery Solomano.
Tim also sent us a few clips from the competition. They include footage of Joe Brewer, Jack Mullaly, Nathan Mummery, Morgan Driessens, Wilfrid Delolme Kyle Roland, Gemma Abant and Andrew Dickey. He gave us a few details about the day as well: “For the third and final time, the Australian Trials Championships were held in Adelaide in Southern Australia. Unfortunately, this year we had to take a return flight on the same day, so we didn’t have time to ride much after the competition. Thankfully, Stu Colla and the organisers had put on a fantastic event and built some great sections. With a record prize and a sales village, there was a super atmosphere at the event and I hope that everyone is now motivated for this new year of competition. There wasn’t much time for filming, but here are the clips that we managed to get, The level of riding was very high and it was great to see some new international faces alongside the familiar old ones. Wilfrid Delolme from France rode well in the blistering heat to take fourth place in Pro. Gemma Abant Condal was competing in Elite and took second place behind ExpressiveBikes’ Polish rider Borys Zagrocki.”
