Nopogo.org was one of the great independent French mountain bike and trials media sites, following the development of the sports for almost nine years! With their site EspaceTrial, they were the first to cover day to day trials news online, and to provide an online open discussion space for French trials riders. Over the course of the next nine years, it became the largest French language forum, with almost 2000 members, focussing first on information, then providing tutorials to teach beginners the necessary trials techniques and then, of course, on biketrials videos. Nopogo has become a benchmark for biketrials film makers, both in subject matter and in the quality of the videos created by webmaster Niouf, which were recognised on forums worldwide. Nopogo was also the first website to offer downloadable biketrials videos!
The site had recently lost momentum, with Niouf having less and less time to dedicate to it, and at the beginning of February he told us that he was calling a halt to this wonderful project: Niouf stops Nopogo. Champollion, the webmaster of EspaceTrial has told us that ET has taken over the excellent Nopogo database, "in order to adapt its current content for the latest version of EspaceTrial which is currently under construction". While we wait for the new version of the ET website, Nopogo is temporarily being stored on the ET server and the numerous articles can still be consulted at www.espacetrial.com/nopogo.
Niouf’s final words...
The future of Nopogo?
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that, gradually, I will be stopping the updates on the site. Other commitments are taking up more and more of my time and trials is no longer the centre of my activities. I no longer think that I will be able to run a website without being completely involved in the project. Nopogo was born nine years ago; in a time when the French online trials community was a bit like a desert. There were only really the diablotins, trashzen and other small sites that relayed information. These days the situation has changed completely and there is a great number of quality sites available. With Tribal Zone and Espace Trial you’re spoilt for choice and I have complete confidence that they will continue to represent the world of biketrials online. If you like what they do, don’t hesitate to send them a little message to let them know. Nothing pleases a webmaster more than to receive comments from happy visitors to his site!
I’m retiring, making way for the young’uns; but I will always be around, making little videos here and there or relaying news that I might hear and I’ll always look forward to bumping into you at a comp or a street session.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have offered me support and encouragement over the years. There are a lot of you and I wouldn’t be able to name you all individually without forgetting some.
Thanks also to all of the companies and partners who have helped with the construction of the site, directly or indirectly (in chronological order):
Thibaut Marriaux
Christian Gugliotta at Atomz
Dominique et Vincent Hermance at Koxx
Tibaut Veuillet
Nopogo is an enormous base of information and I would not like to see it disappear tomorrow. If there are any among you who would like to take care of my baby, I would be more than happy to hand over the keys. However, they would need to be motivated people, who like to write and who aren’t afraid to get involved in the technical side of things in case of problems, although I will always be on hand to provide help and training to future webmasters. The subscription runs out mid-March, so we have to work quickly! I’ll open a topic on the forum to organise all that.
See you in the sections!
