The heart of the street scene lies in England. There are two main schools, personified by two emblematic riders. The first draws its inspiration from BMX, with manuals, tailwhips and spins being order of the day, and the figurehead of this school is, of course, Danny MacAskill, the rider who brought trials an unprecedented media audience. The second school, dubbed TGS on the forums, is 100% trial influenced and brings us more and more incredible taps, gaps and sidehops (from which it gets its name). This style of riding has, you could say, contributed to the newer styles of riding seen on the UCI circuit, with more and more riders focusing on these techniques.
The most emblematic rider of this scene is none other than Damon Watson, who made his comeback in the spring of 2010 and is now riding for Ozonys, on a Curve 26. This is Damon’s latest offering, a collection of clips before his next full length video. He says that he wanted to get the drop gap clips out of the way as he had some bigger ones lined up for his next video – we dread to think how big he’ll be going in the future! Jam packed with massive gaps, ups-to-front and typical Damon-esque massiveness, this is just over a minute of white knuckle trials!
