Ben Travis needs no introduction, but we’ll give him one anyway. The 26 year old street rider, who lives in Scotland but hails from Hull, has made a name for himself over the last ten years with a series of impressive and inspirational street and natural videos. For a long time, his focus was on TGS and his trademark was big moves, but lately he’s picked up an Inspired Hex and turned towards a more flowy kind of riding, ‘inspired’ by Danny MacAskill.
Ben has kicked off 2012 with his first project of the year, a remarkable brakeless video that mixes his usual big moves with more creative and fluid lines, including some superb manuals… Here’s what Ben had to say about ‘Project 1’, which was filmed at the start of the year and represents several months’ work…. “Riding brakeless is a whole new challenge, something I have done before, but never gave much time to. Riding trials without any brakes is pretty stupid. It is scary and for someone as injury prone as myself; pretty risky.
None-the-less, the satisfaction felt when you manage to pull off that line you have been eyeing up, then trying for an hour makes it all worth while. If it wasn’t for ’demo season’ starting soon, I’d probably keep the brakes off for an indefinite amount of time. Maybe next year...
Either way, I have made a no frills edit; just me, my brakeless Inspired, and a camera...”
We’ll leave you to enjoy the video, which is one of the best brakeless videos we’ve ever seen. Enoy!
