Ben Swales is a professional translator who joined the Tribal Zine staff last year and is now the administrator of the English section of the site. Of course, like all of us, he’s also a rider and a keen competitor – he finished second overall in Cadet 26” (BIU Expert) in the 2009 Tyke Trial Championship after riding four of the seven rounds and will be competing in the 2010 Tyke Trial championship and the British Championship (both in cadet 26")
Ben has now officially joined the Tribal Zine team alongside Tom Francisco, Ambrogio Chessa, Julien Pizzagalli and Pierre-Charles Thomas. He will be riding the Ozonys Cannibal Black Light that we tested for Trial Magazine not long ago and will be testing the bike for us in the coming weeks! At the same time, Ben will be joining the Ozonys Team 2. He will be representing them in competition at the Tyke Trial Championship and British Championship rounds.
The “Tribal Team” section will be back online soon and we will take the opportunity to unveil a new project for 2010 at the same time.
Ben’s Cannibal:
Here are a few photos of Ben’s new toy! We hope he has a lot of fun on it!
Ben in action:
Ben was intending to ride in the first round of the Tyke Trial championship on Sunday, but the competition was cancelled: a snow storm throughout the region meant that the sections were unrideable and that the site was all but inaccessible! While we wait for some action photos of Ben on his Cannibal, here are a few photos of him in his old bike, an Adamant A1...

And while we’re on the subject, here’s a photo from the depths of our archives… Our translator and Tribal Rider Ben Swales on his first ‘trials’ bike in 1997! Ben, like many of the other Tribal staff members, has been into trials for a long time! He was 13 or 14 when the photo was taken and rode a Giant Alu Pro with a 22” (XL) frame! The eagle eyed among you will notice that he wasn’t using his brakes either – looks like Chris Akrigg wasn’t the first after all ;-) Respect Ben !
